Overview

This scheme makes payments to Canberrans who have developed an asbestos-related disease from living in a loose-fill asbestos insulation affected home (also known as 'Mr Fluffy' properties). Financial support covers out-of-pocket expenses including medical costs, loss of earnings, home/vehicle modifications, care services, and support for financial dependents.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have developed an asbestos disease after living permanently (more than 6 months) in a loose-fill asbestos insulation home in the ACT, had no substantial work-related asbestos exposure that would qualify for workers' compensation, and been diagnosed on or after 1 January 2014.
