Overview

The WIP – Doctor Stream provides financial incentives to medical practitioners who deliver eligible primary care services in rural and remote areas of Australia. Payments are made through two systems: the Central Payment System (CPS) for doctors billing the Medicare Benefits Schedule, and the Flexible Payment System (FPS) for doctors providing eligible services or undertaking training not reflected in the MBS. Incentive amounts vary based on activity levels, tenure in the program, and vocational registration status.

Eligibility Requirements

Medical practitioners must provide a minimum amount of eligible primary care services in eligible locations and/or undertake eligible GP training under an approved training pathway, meet the required number of active quarters for payment, have an eligible current Medicare provider number, and have provided current bank account details in the required timeframe.
