Overview

The ACT Government offers 2 scholarships each year to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to complete a Diploma of Nursing at the Canberra Institute of Technology. This scholarship is offered under the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) National Partnership Agreement on Closing the Gap on Indigenous Health Outcomes.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, have a letter of offer into the Diploma of Nursing at CIT, and provide confirmation of Aboriginality. A reference or recommendation form from someone worked with or a teacher within the last 12 months is required.

The AEEF supports new and existing ACT Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations to build organisational capacity and capability to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Canberra. This grant funds community-led activities and initiatives that prevent and reduce gambling harm in the ACT community. All projects must provide benefit to ACT residents and be completed within 12 months.

Loose-Fill Asbestos Disease Support Scheme

This scheme makes payments to Canberrans who have developed an asbestos-related disease from living in a loose-fill asbestos insulation affected home (also known as 'Mr Fluffy' properties). Financial support covers out-of-pocket expenses including medical costs, loss of earnings, home/vehicle modifications, care services, and support for financial dependents.
